Damaging winds averaging 60 to 70 km/h with gusts in excess of 90 km/h, are likely to develop along the coast Sunday afternoon, before extending north through Sydney and parts of the Central Coast.
Heading to the beach is not advised, with very heave surf conditions expected to be dangerous with potential to cause localised damage and coastal erosion.
Areas likely to be affected on Sunday include Wollongong, Nowra, Batemans Bay, Braidwood, Sydney and Moruya. While Wollongong, Sydney, Newcastle and Port Macquarie could still be suffering on Monday.
Flooding is also expected on Sunday and Monday around the Shoalhaven River at Nowra, with the river level set to reach 2.3 metres around 10am Sunday, and 2.3 metres Monday evening.
While minor flooding is occurring in the Shoalhaven River at Terara, with the water level predicted to reach around 3.8 metres Monday afternoon.
