The shopping centre is keen to provide families with plenty of festive joy and things for children to see and do.
There is a gingerbread house on level one in the Crown building. While nearby in the Gateway building children can navigate a Christmas maze to find a red post box with a special delivery address for the North Pole.
After writing and posting a letter to Santa they can have a family photo taken with Santa sitting in his new snowy log cabin. The photos are being done differently this year but Wollongong Central wants to ensure no one misses out.
On Saturday and Sunday performers will roam the shopping centre singing carols to help keep everyone in the Christmas spirit.
Extended shopping hours have begun to ensure shoppers have the time they need to complete their preparations for Christmas 2020.
Centre manager Jasmin North said if ever a touch of Santa magic was needed it was this year.
She said Wollongong Central was very keen to do anything it can to help take the stress out of Christmas.
"We want to ensure children still gain that sense of enchantment that is synonymous with the season," she said.
Wollongong Central is closed on Christmas Day but will re-open for the Boxing Day sales from 8am on December 26 with free parking all day.
Ms North said David Jones will open in the Gateway Building between 8am and 9pm on Boxing Day.
All the details for the extended shopping hours are available online.
