Calls were made to NSW Ambulance and Police around 10am on Monday, with reports a bus driver suffered a medical episode, causing him to lose control of the vehicle on Staff Road.
"On arrival we found the bus had appeared to have been travelling from east to west, and gone onto the wrong side of the road and hit some parked vehicles then stopped in that position," NSW Ambulance Illawarra Inspector Norm Rees said.
"Two off duty nurses stopped to render assistance and break into the bus ... where they found a male lying on the floor post having a seizure."
Inspector Rees said as one of the nurses tried to secure the bus by turning it off, "which triggered it" to roll backwards and further strike a power pole, parked car, garbage bins, then has run into the first floor of a two storey house.
It's understood three people have suffered minor injuries, while there were passengers on the bus at the time.
Power and gas has been shut off to the affected residence, which has been structurally damaged.
Fire and Rescue NSW are currently working to stabilise the house.
NSW Police are also on scene and traffic on the road is partially blocked due to the damaged power pole.
