The incident happened just before 10.30am on a property on Redhills Road.
Four ambulance crews and the TOLL Ambulance Rescue Helicopter were dispatched to the scene, where they treated a man in his 40s for suspected spinal and internal injuries.
He was airlifted to Liverpool Hospital in a stable condition.
NSW Ambulance Inspector Kevin Milne said the man was lucky not to have sustained more serious injuries.
"His work colleagues should be commended for extricating him out of the hole before paramedic crews arrived," Insp Milne said.
"It's an important reminder to take all safety precautions while at work, especially on construction sites."
