After a freak accident on Saturday he's fighting for his life.
The 12-year-old from Calderwood enjoyed an idyllic family day out at Gerringong Falls, hiking and swimming.
As he walked home from a day his aunt, Emily Chapman, described as "picture perfect," Tarj slipped and fell 15 metres down a cliff.
His mum and grandfather clambered after him, and found him unconscious but breathing. Tarj kept seizing, so they cradled his head in the recovery position for three hours as they waited for help to arrive.
"As a mum, my heart breaks - it would have felt like forever," Emily said.
"His parents' (Stacy and Darren) world revolves around Tarj, he's their only child. No parent should have to go through this."
Tarj is being kept in an induced coma in the Randwick Children's Hospital until his condition stabilises.
Stacy and Darren have not left Tarj's bedside. They do not know how long they will be there, or what the road ahead looks like for Tarj.
Emily's son Archie was born just four weeks apart from Tarj, his "partner in crime".
COVID-19 restrictions mean the tight-knit extended family cannot be at Randwick Children's Hospital to provide support, so Emily and another of Tarj's aunts, Jaimi Colquhoun, have launched a GoFundMe to support the family.
"Their world has stopped - but the mortgage and bills don't stop because of that," Emily said.
"I was in hospital for three months in 2018, and Stacey was by my side the whole time, that's just the kind of people they are.
"We can't take away their hurt and pain, but we can try to take away some of the financial stress."
Almost 200 people have already donated, including one very generous mystery donor.
Yeoryios Kyriakos Markos contributed $33,000 to the fund, more than half of Emily and Jaimi's total goal of $60,000.
"Jaimi and I both had to refresh the page and make sure we were on the right fundraiser when we saw it," Emily said.
"We have no idea who it is - if we find out we would love to thank them personally.
"It's phenomenal. It brings your faith in humanity back."
For those able to donate, the GoFundMe can be found at.
For those unable to donate, Emily said well-wishes would be deeply appreciated. She and Jaimi will set up a Facebook page to keep the community up-to-date with Tarj's progress and you can donate here www.gofundme.com/f/help-tarj-our-little-fighter-on-his-recovery
