About 5.45pm on Tuesday, officers attached to Lake Illawarra Highway Patrol tried to stop a green Mazda 323 on King Street in Warilla, when the driver allegedly accelerated away at high speed.

The driver, a 28-year-old man, was arrested as he tried to exit the vehicle. Three passengers also ran from the vehicle, with two found nearby.
The driver was taken to Shellharbour Hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing.
