UOW's intake of total preferences in 2021 through UAC was 15,646. As of November 30, the total preferences for UOW in 2022 was 12,337.
The snapshot of preferences released by UAC, shows UOW had 2760 first preferences, down from 3469 in 2021. But the first preferences number is just a guide at best as applicants can change their preferences as often as they wish - and often do - so these numbers change daily.
As of November, 71,875* people had applied through UAC for study in 2022. This includes more than 40,000 NSW HSC students who are waiting on the release of their results.
Based on figures from previous years, UAC expects about 20,000 of these students to change their preferences after receiving their ATAR with a realistic appraisal of courses to which they may qualify for admission.
These numbers are down around five per cent on last year as students are increasingly applying directly to individual universities to maximise their chances of receiving an offer.
While UAC processes direct applications on behalf of individual universities, these preferences are not included in this count.
ATARs will be released at 9am on January 20, 2022 to give Year 12 students time to review their preferences, which can be changed until midnight on Friday, January 21 and the first main round of offers for Year 12 students based on the ATAR will be released at 7.30am on Wednesday, January 26.
