The sellers bought the 645 square metre block of land in 1960.
Selling agent, Michael Moate from R&W Figtree said the home, which had attracted a strong level of inquiry, had been in the same ownership since that time, until the recent sale.
"They built downstairs, and they all lived downstairs in that area together," he said.
"And he built the upstairs as they got more money, then built the garage after that."
Mr Moate said the home was sold to an Illawarra-based buyer, who planned to be an owner-occupier.
"It's got fantastic ocean and lake views, and was built very well - the old Italians used to build things like Fort Knox," Mr Moate said.
"It needed a little TLC, but it's solid and built very well."
The brick construction features two galley kitchens, two bathrooms, two living areas and formal dining area.
According to CoreLogic, currently the median sales price of houses in Warrawong is $725,000.

It's not the only property in the region that has been offered for sale after many decades.
At the higher end of the market, a home located in a tightly-held section of an already in-demand suburb is for sale after 75-plus years in the same family.
Sitting on 689.2 square metres, the home at 3 Park Road, Gerroa is due to be auctioned on February 15.
Selling agent, Kate Morgan from Ray White Gerringong said the current owners purchased the block of land in 1947.
"It's in a unique spot, and you don't get many chances to buy into that street," Ms Morgan said.
Ms Morgan said they expected strong buyer interest in the home, which has a price guide in the low $2 million range.
