Miss McInerney has worked at the Kiama Leisure Centre in administration and as a lifeguard for the past three years.

She received the Robert East Community Service Award for her contribution to community organisations outside Kiama Municipal Council, including the Kiama Surf Club and the Jamberoo Rural Fire Service.

Mr East died from cancer part way through the 2004-08 council term. He received the Paul Harris Fellow, Rotary's highest honour.

Now 21, Miss McInerney joined Nippers at the age of five and started taking on committee roles at just 16, including the Kiama Surf Club captaincy in 2012-13.

She also has a perfect patrol attendance record.

"Normally [committee members are] like 30, but I just have a passion for it," she said.

"I started assisting in the role and then the opportunity came up and I kept going forward."

During the most recent bushfire disaster, she spent time at the Blue Mountains and Picton fire fronts.

"I'm lucky, any time I need to go, I'm granted release, generally for fire brigade," she said.

Miss Dimoski, a cadet engineer, received the Megan Dalley Trainee of the Year Award.

Miss Dalley passed away in a car accident on the Kiama Bends in 2007 and was remembered for her initiative as a customer service trainee.

While usually a male-dominated field, Miss Dimoski decided to follow in her brother's footsteps and study civil engineering.

"I always liked Tom Ugly's bridge and thought maybe I could do something like that," she said.

Since January, the 22-year-old has helped out with design work for subdivision applications and even covered for the subdivision development engineer when he took a month's leave.

"I did some of the things he would do, like go out for inspections," she said.

"It was good actually, I really liked it - I was scared that I wouldn't be able to really do any of it but I've always gone out with him, it was just doing it on my own.

"I think I'd like to stay with council, I'm really enjoying it now."

Miss McInerney did not yet have a long-term plan.

"I'd like to finish my two degrees of Commerce and IT, then see where life takes me," she said.
