However, Keira MP Ryan Park said the latest graffiti attack over the weekend, involving offensive religious and cultural comments had taken the ongoing problem to another level.
‘‘This is a disgusting attack,’’ Mr Park said.
‘‘It has happened too often, but this has escalated with this offensive cultural and religious based material.’’
‘‘I’ll be taking the unusual step of writing to all residents in the area, asking them for information that will lead to these criminals being caught.’’
Mr Park said he planned to meet with police on Monday to see if they could do a safety audit to see what measures could be put in place to prevent the attacks.
In May, Wollongong City Council announced that fresh murals would be painted on the facility in a bid to combat the ongoing graffiti attacks.
