A love of his indigenous heritage, ocean and surfing is captured in the latest works of Gwynneville artist Zac Bennett-Brook.
A selection of these ocean-inspired designs on recycled surfboards and fins will be on show and available to buy at the RAW Exhibition at Hotel Illawarra on Wednesday, December 3.
Born in Wollongong, the 24-year-old is a proud Torres Strait Islander. This is reflected in the sea and water-inspired canvas designs which take pride of place on his website saltwaterdreamtime.com.
Bennett-Brook has had numerous commissioned artworks at primary schools in the Illawarra, completing totem poles and murals at Nareena Hills, Balgownie, Waniora, and Woonona High. He is currently working on totem poles at Figtree Heights Public School.
The artist has also had his designs featured on swimsuits and kaftans.
The RAW Exhibition, will also feature musical acts The Derby Dolls and We Came for Dinosaurs, artist Cassandra Kavanagh and performing artist Brihony Rhea. Doors open at 7pm.
RAW:natural born artists is an international independent arts organisation that spotlights visual art, film, fashion, music, hair and make-up artistry, photography, models and performing arts.
