The Merri Soul Sessions tour has enjoyed sold out shows since it started in January and its success has prompted extra dates, including a concert at Anita's Theatre on Tuesday, March 31.
The show presents a rare and unique live experience as 10 musicians and performers unite in an electrifying soul revue, featuring songs from the acclaimed album Paul Kelly Presents The Merri Soul Sessions as well as some of Kelly's hits.
Kelly will sing lead vocals alongside Sultan, the Bull sisters, Clairy Browne and Kira Puru, with the backing of Kelly's touring band - Peter Luscombe on drums and percussion; Bill McDonald (bass); Ash Naylor (guitar) and Cam Bruce (piano and organ). Kicking off the soulful evenings will be special guests Emma Donovan and The PutBacks.
The Merri Soul Sessions tour has attracted rave reviews.
"The group sung together like family - and the rapport between performers was palpable … Kelly and his friends looked like they were having the time of their lives up on the stage," said The Guardian.
