This year money will go towards helping train volunteers to collect feedback on issues concerning the community; a primary school education program on local Indigenous culture; and a research project on a traditional Dharawal rug.
“These projects often start a lifelong collaboration towards real social change. Many projects start small and go on to have significant and long-lasting results,” said Community Engagement Manager Dr Melissa Thompson.
The scheme has been running for 10 years with a total of $450,000 in grants.
The previous 56 projects have included improving physical health for those living with mental illness; improving nutrition for at risk elderly; support for refugees; a youth anti-smoking campaign; and reading resources for community language schools.
