Regional Development Australia (RDA) has teamed up with the University of Wollongong to host the fourth annual Regional Leaders Summit in November.
The two-day event will feature NSW Premier Barry O'Farrell as keynote speaker.
Ahead of the summit, RDA Illawarra will be asking Illawarra residents to list their infrastructure priorities for the region through a survey on the organisation's website.
RDA Illawarra CEO Natalie Burroughs said these could include a faster rail link to Sydney, the F6 extension, the Maldon-Dombarton rail link, or upgrades to Picton Road or the Princes Highway.
"It's just to determine whether these are still priorities in people's view, whether there's a new priority out there that should be considered and why," Ms Burroughs said.
She said they last ran a public survey ahead of the first summit, which was aimed specifically at transport infrastructure.
From that, RDA Illawarra wrote a report to Infrastructure Australia that led to a greater focus on Picton Road.
"We haven't done [a survey] for a while and there's a lot of infrastructure activity happening in the region," she said.
"We want to be able to put a regional voice forward and we want to work with Infrastructure NSW and Infrastructure Australia about how we make these priority projects happen."
The online survey will be available on the RDA website from October 1.
