The likeable South Coast hoop was dislodged and knocked unconscious when he came off Andsoitiswritten in the home straight.
He was treated by paramedics on course before being transported to Moruya Hospital.
He suffered an AC joint dislocation as well as a sprained ankle and a concussion.
Friend Troy Jordan said Pollard has ‘come along well’ after initially having grave concerns for the jockey.
“When we got to the hospital, he was knocked out quite badly. He’s conscious now and speaking well,” Jordan said.
Pollard has had a rotten run with injury in recent years.
He was sidelined for more than 12 months with a broken wrist in 2011 that needed 13 screws and two plates inserted.
He also has had a double hip replacement and spent the better part of 2016 recovering from an ACL injury suffered during a barrier incident at the Sapphire Coast.
Pollard had been in good form before the unfortunate fall, with winning doubles at Nowra and the Sapphire Coast in the final week of last year.
