The race, which is the fourth of five heats in the series, will be known as the Bede Murray Provincial Championships Qualifier.
It will be run on Thursday, March 23 at Kembla Grange.
“We are thrilled to be able to have our qualifier named in honour of Bede again for this year,” Illawarra Turf Club racing manager Michael Craig said.
Murray trained the quinella in inaugural Kembla heat, with Darci Magic edging out stablemate O’Reilly’s Revenge at the trainer’s home track.
The top horseman went on to claim the Provincial Championships final at Royal Randwick with Sure And Fast.
Murray died in March last year after a brave battle with cancer.
