Organisers have sought to host the fun run event in the heart of the running season, giving runners of all ages and abilities a lead-up event to other major events, or as an opportunity to enjoy themselves among friends and family.
Runners, joggers and walkers will be able to take in the coastal vista and South Coast landmarks including the Kiama Blowhole and beaches, as well as rolling green hills on one side and rugged coastline on the other.
The running festival boasts three race distances; 2.5 kilometres, 10 kilometres and the main event, the 14-kilometre Kiama Coastal Classic.
The finish line for all three distances is at Black Beach reserve, where there will be an on-site expo and prize giveaways.
South Coast resident and CEO of Elite Energy Mark Emerton came up with the idea of having the Kiama Coastal Classic while running one day on the Gerringong to Kiama coastal path.
Mr Emerton thought that the path would be the perfect opportunity to host a race that challenged athletes of Sydney, the Shoalhaven and Illawarra while showcasing this beautiful stretch of coastline.
Organisers say there are event distances to suit all motivations.
Aside from the aforementioned 14km Kiama Coastal Classic, the 10km Blowhole Dash can be run as an individual or as a two-person team (5km each).
The 2.5km Lighthouse Bolt features the inclusion of the All Schools Cup, whereby members of primary schools throughout the region will compete on a points basis that encourages participation rather than competition.
This will result in the presentation of an annual trophy, with Gerringong Public School taking out the win last year.
Early bird registrations are now open until April 19 via the www.eliteenergy.com.au website.
