If you are at the Kiama Black Beach market next Sunday please come to the Lions van to enjoy our delicious hot food including good coffee, doughnuts, chips and pies. We'll also give you the chance to win a $50 seafood raffle voucher for just $2. When you spend with Lions or Rotary at the market you should feel really good about your purchase, given that most of what you pay goes back to the many good causes which we support.
Kiama Lions supported over a dozen local groups over the past year. If you are associated, for example, with Kiama High School, Kiama Public School, Kiama Pipe Band, or Kiama Surf Club then your purchase at the Lions van at the markets contributed directly to something that matters to you.
Lions International is celebrating its centenary this year and Kiama Lions Club has existed for almost half of that time. With your support, we hope to be able to continue to serve our local community, and beyond, well into the future. Please say "hello" to us at the markets!
KIAMA ROTARY
Past President Trevor Phillis presented a cheque for $500 on behalf of Kiama Rotary to the local SCARF (Strategic Community Assistance for Refugee Families) refugee support group last week. The club has been supporting this program for several years and is part of our ongoing commitment to helping the local community.
SCARF facilitates a range of targeted programs to help refugee entrants navigate the practical and personal challenges of resettlement. Their mission is to see refugee families happily settled and participating fully in the life of the wider community.
President Lloyd Chatfield and four Kiama members attended the District changeover event in Sydney last weekend. District 9675 comprises over 60 clubs located from Sydney CBD in the north, west to the foothills of the mountains and south to Kiama. As well as contributing thousands of hours of voluntary work in local communities, district clubs also raised several million dollars for various local and international humanitarian projects. This was made possible through the generous support of our many supporters and friends. We thank you.
