The Pur Pur Ave dwelling in Lake Illawarra is the first in Hyperbuild’s state-of-the-art TraumHaus concept series. Traum means dream and haus means house.
All the CLT panels were shipped from Austria and if laid end to end equate to the length of 50 Olympic-sized swimming pools. The total construction time will be less than six months, with completion expected by April 2018.
Hyperbuild managing director Theo Pasialis said the TraumHaus duplex added to the rapidly expanding Hyperbuild portfolio of CLT residential construction projects in the Illawarra. That included the Watermark CLT development in Addison Street, Shellharbour Village.
CLT is new timber construction system in which large timber panels are craned into place forming the overall structure of the building. Multiple layers of wood are glued together at right angles under extreme pressure to create giant panels to be used as flooring, load bearing walls and ceilings.
Construction is similar to a giant jigsaw puzzle, with each piece slotting perfectly into place to create the overall structure.
Mr Pasialis said the team at Hyperbuild was driven by a desire to challenge current practice in the building industry, bringing new concepts and greater efficiencies in residential living to fast-growing areas like the Illawarra.
“The TraumHaus adopts a pitched roof house design for a typical 2-story home. There are joint driveways for duplexes, balcony views at both ends and a private internal courtyard to enhance ventilation,” he said.
“This state-of-the-art design makes the best use of every indoor and outdoor space in the property. It also boasts operational energy efficiency, a pleasant and stable living climate, high fire and chemical resistance, excellent thermal insulation properties, and reduced construction time limiting costs”.
Hyperbuild invests in a specialist team of architects and structural engineers from the Illawarra and around Australia with the highest level of qualifications to bring concepts like the Pur Pur Avenue development to life.
