The towering 211cm big-man remained on the bench for Illawarra’s thrilling 106-102 victory over Cairns Taipans at WIN Entertainment Centre on Thursday night.
He hasn’t been sighted since tallying just three points and three rebounds in 22 minutes in the club’s six point loss to Melbourne United on December 16.
Since that match, Ogilvy has had a limited training schedule as the Hawks’ opted for a cautious approach with the three-time All-NBL first teamer.
He is increasing his work load each day
- Rob Beveridge
“He has had that on-going hip and groin injury. It is one of those things that we have put in a day-by-day plan and he is increasing his work load each day,” Hawks coach Rob Beveridge said. “So right now we are aiming for that game on January 6 so hopefully there won’t be any hiccups.”
Illawarra play Melbourne United again at WIN Entertainment in the opening week of January. In the meantime, American import Delvon Johnson will more than likely continue to hold on to Ogilvy’s starting role for Sunday’s stoush with the Bullets. Johnson has averaged more than 25 minutes per game since taking the starting spot.
