The night of personal development and networking saw the three discuss what employers look for in an assistant, a resume and interview tips.
They also gave some useful tips and provided salary expectations in the Wollongong area.
On the subject of how to ask for a pay rise they said it was important to think about why you want it before raising it. Be realistic and if you have more responsibilities than you previously did than state that.
They recommended being careful about using the offer of another job as a bargaining tool because more often than not that does not work.
Research and getting facts right is important because knowing what salaries generally are now for certain positions is very wise.
“Be aware in Wollongong that Sydney salaries are generally 20 per cent higher. Also choose your timing and know what is going on in your company at the moment,” Ms Silburn said.
Ms Taylor said it was important to listen to an owner or managers reasoning about why they can or can’t accommodate a pay rise.
M2 Kitchen will be the venue for the next network meeting on March 13 followed by CityBeach Function Centre on May 29 and SmartSpace Office at Wollongong Innovation Campus on July 29.
