Prather has been out since round 10 after dislocating his elbow in an ugly incident against the Illawarra Hawks.
He has been sidelined for the past two months, but has now been given the tick of approval from medical staff to make his return.
He will first play against his former side Perth Wildcats on Friday night before facing-off against the Hawks.
His return sees replacement Carrick Felix shifted out of the roster.
Felix is expected to remain with the club as they look to secure their first NBL championship under the Melbourne United name.
Big-man and Boomers veteran David Andersen (foot) will also make his return to the line-up.
Andersen’s inclusion sees his replacement Chris Patton drop out of the roster.
Tip-off is at 3pm on Sunday afternoon.
