Illawarra Innovative Industry Network (i3net) has teamed up with Advanced Manufacturing Growth Centre, Innovative Manufacturing Cooperative Research Centre and the Entrepreneurs’ Programme to host an Australian-first workshop on how industry can benefit from digital manufacturing and business models.
i3net executive officer Bianca Perry said there has been a big response to Friday’s free breakfast workshop for manufacturers unsure of what benefits digital manufacturing and digital business models can make.
The workkshop is designed to help manufactures think differently about the opportunities and challenges of digital manufacturing for their business.
There are three key characteristics of advanced manufacturers, as a blueprint for local organisations in the industry to emulate:
Advanced knowledge: to continuously innovate through a high degree of investment in research and development.
Advanced processes: to focus on using state-of-the-art technology and becoming familiar with digital manufacturing.
Advanced business models: to offer niche solutions that are often highly customised and highly valuable.
