Gerringong Town Hall will be awash with colour, sunflowers, smiles and good cheer! As well as great food and entertainment there will be a multi-draw raffle for prizes made possible by a very supportive local business community.
Prior to the day you can also buy tickets in an exquisite christening robe that can become a family heirloom for the lucky winner. It was made and embroidered by Barbara Donald. These tickets will be sold on May 4-5 at Gerringong IGA and drawn at the High Tea.
Tickets to the event, which are available from Cronin’s Liquor, include a glass of bubbly and a delicious assortment of sweet and savoury homemade delights.
The fashion parade will showcase fashions from Annalou, Beyond the Beach and Bombo Clothing.
While CMRI members Kate Quinn, Gwen Wishart, Lorraine Jolley, Greer Fulton, Maggie Simmons and Katie Wicks will model the clothing for the event.
The range of fashions will appeal to all age groups.
Raising money for medical research has been the aim since the formation of the Gerringong Committee in 1959 under the leadership of Dorothy Bailey.
A sense of community, belonging, meeting new people and having a good time continues to be part of the experience for all members.
In those 59 years, the Gerringong community has been incredibly generous and supportive. All the money raised has directly funded research.
ProCan is the international program that will save lives by making cancer diagnosis faster and more accurate.
Doctors will be empowered with the information needed to choose the best treatment option for each individual patient, with fewer side effects.
CMRI scientists will analyse 70,000 cancers over the next 5 years. In future when a patient is diagnosed with cancer, their cancer can be analysed within 36 hours and compared to the vast store of information that will exist.
By giving doctors a diagnosis of the exact type and subtype of cancer, a personalised treatment plan can be recommended giving the patient the greatest likelihood of success.
This is a CMRI project, located at the CMRI Westmead purpose built facility. Currently cancer kills 8 million adults and children globally each year.
Apart from accidents, the leading cause of death in children under four is birth defects and genetic disease. From the ages of four to 14, it is cancer.
What better way to celebrate Mother’s Day than an enjoyable afternoon out with your mother, grandmother and friends to help raise money for medical research that is the key to finding cures for childhood diseases ranging from cancer to genetic eye disease, epilepsy and cleft palate.
