On May 12 a fun night, hosted by Andrew Medenis at Gerroa Fishos, raised $3520 to help fund the next phase – the community survey, which is planned for the end of May.
The overall trivia winner was Gerringong Lions Club, who received a donation of $200 towards their ongoing community activities.
The survey will be sent to all those who have pledged and a random selection of community members in postal code 2534.
Survey recipients please fill in and return in the reply paid envelopes as soon as possible to help the committee reach the next phase.
Clubs which took part on the night include Werri Beach Board riders, Bendigo Bank, Lions Club, Rotary Club, Gerringong Surf Life Saving Club, Kiama Farmers Markets, Gerringong Breakers, Gerringong RSL, Gerringong Sunrise Rotary, Gerroa Environmental Protection Society, South Precinct.
A public information night, hosted by the steering committee’s Shane Douglas, will be at the Gerringong Town Hall at 7.30pm on Wednesday, May 30.
The committee will be there and welcome all locals to come and hear the latest news on the community bank project.
The Steering Committee’s role will be outlined to reassure the community that, while responsible for the effective operation and good governance of the new branch, members are forbidden by law to have any knowledge or access to bank customers’ financial details.
“Since we kicked off the pledge phase in early March we have received more than $1.06 million in pledges in record time,” a steering committee spokesperson said.
“Pledges must be in by May 31, after that it is too late.
“Thank you to all in our community who are helping make our bank a reality.”
Pledge forms are available from Park Ridge Retreat and our Pharmacy.
Phase III begins in July and that is the issuing of the community bank prospectus, which permits everyone to purchase $1 shares.
“So if you have not pledged all is not lost in making history for our wonderful town and its surrounding villages and area.”
