The not-for-profit Tender Funerals will transform Mount Keira Girl Guides Camp into a celebration space with a ceremony of remembrance, craft activities, a choir and food on Saturday.
Funeral director Amy Sagar said coming together in grief helps people “heal individually but also collectively”.
“Response to loss is an individual and very personal process,” Ms Sagar said.
General manager Jenny Briscoe-Hough added an event like this helps normalise death and recognise it as “an ongoing journey”.
“When people come together they are empowered,” Ms Briscoe-Hough said.
Anyone can attend, including children. All are asked to bring a plate of food to share, and are advised to dress accordingly to the weather forecast.
The free event will run from 2pm to 5pm, with the ceremony of remembrance at 3pm.
Tender Funerals opened their doors in 2016 to offer alternative services to the community by placing emphasis on the human touch and letting loved ones say goodbye in their own way with a holistic scope.
Some of their services have included informal ceremonies with bands, opera singing and children telling jokes.
