The 36ers shot out of the blocks and were eyeing a big score, but the Hawks locked them down for the remainder of the game and, importantly, kept them to just 12 points in the final term.
It was consecutive stops that opened the door for Jett’s late heroics, with White saying the final-term effort was among his side’s best this season.
“We got it back to three or four [points] but we did that by getting stops,” White said.
“We were playing great d that whole last quarter. That whole quarter we were locked in defensively.
“Looking at the stats they scored 20 points in the first five minutes so to hold them to 66 [more] when they’re capable of putting up 120 points in a game was an unbelievable effort.
“That’s where we’ve got to get out bread and butter, defensively, and then just run and let the ball flow with some movement.
“I don’t think there was any doubt that we could win that game and we just made some big plays down the stretch.
“Toddy [Blanchfield] hit some big shots and Jordair came up with a massive play to win the game.”
