But the just crowned Australian National Champions weren’t the only Wollongong FIRST LEGO League team to have an “absolute blinder” at the Australian National FLL Championships.
About 70 teams from around Australia competed in the championships at Macquarie University on December 8-9.
Wollongong and the South Coast were once again represented valiantly by a collection of teams from schools, home-schooled groups and Scout groups.
Wollongong-based teams picked up six trophies, with three teams also securing passage to upcoming international competitions.
In the robot game, Project Bucephalus were pipped at the post by the RoboRoyals from Perth .
But the team’s overall success in the two-day competition saw it named the Australian National Champions.
Gong Invaders.(first place in research), Quidditch Queens (second place programming) and Wonders of Wollongong West (third place programming) also excelled.
