The bulk of the attendance was at the sold-out Rufus Du Sol concert on Friday at MacCabe Park. Police made 28 detections of drugs at the dance music event - mainly for possession of MDMA, cocaine and cannabis - with 18 of those resulting in prosecution.
Wollongong Inspector Mark Walker said a large number of people were also removed due to intoxication, one person was charged with already having an arrest warrant and another charged for resisting arrest.
The same venue hosted the Farmer and the Owl Festival on Saturday which saw five drug detections, three criminal infringement notices issued for possession of drugs (MDMA, LSD and Ritolin) and two cautions for people smoking cannabis "joints".
Inspector Walker said one person was also charged with resisting arrest and several others for offensive behaviour. A number of people were also removed for intoxication and jumping the fence.
"There was a substantial police presence at both nights," he said. "Overall intoxication levels were moderate, and the crowd was reasonably well behaved."
Several different police units were at both events including officers on trail bikes and handling drug detection dogs. They were accompanied by crews from St Johns Ambulance and paramedics from NSW Ambulance.
NSW Ambulance Illawarra Zone Inspector Matt Stirling said a minimal number of people sought medical treatment at each event - mainly for first-aid type issues. No-one needed to be transported to hospital.
"The behaviour exceeded expectations," Inspector Stirling said.
"The forward planning and ongoing the communication between all the stakeholders during the event I think is what was a large contributor. The more events you hold I suppose the better you get at them."
Authorities were again out in force on Sunday for the rock-heavy Red Hot Summer Tour at Kiama Showgrounds.
