The co-founder and executive director of Challenging Learning was the guest speaker at a event hosted by Warilla High School last Tuesday.
Warilla teaching and learning head teacher Renee Pettit said the session was designed to challenge, engage and inspire classroom teachers and provide participants with current research and practical strategies to implement the effective use of feedback
Mrs Pettit for one was very impressed and inspired by Nottingham's presentation.
"All his strategies are evidence-based from proven research that works brilliantly in the classroom," she said.
'The focus wasn't so much on teaching but on student learning.
"He also showed us how to use feedback really effectively in order for students to learn. So it is not so much about teachers giving feedback, but it's what [students] do with it to improve their learning."
Last year Nottingham, who is regarded by many as one of the most engaging, thought-provoking and inspirational speakers in education, spoke at 82 conferences in 19 countries on six continents.
The former teacher's company Challenging Learning now employs 25 staff in the UK, Australia, Denmark, Norway, Sweden and the USA.
Mrs Pettit wasn't surprised by Nottingham's success.
"He definitely knows his stuff and he knows how to inspire a love of teaching," she said.
"it was really inspiring actually and really exciting to see how excited the teachers were about renewing their love of teaching.
"Seeing how much teachers were actually excited about getting into the classroom and trying the pragmatic measures he suggested, is probably what I enjoyed most.
"I also now know to demystify the learning for students. As teachers we need to make it clear to students what we expect of them and the feedback we give them must be related to a criteria they know."
