Mrs Bryars has been involved in the Arcadians theatre group for decades, has played piano for many dance exams around the region and is the musical director of two choirs: the Minstrels Singing Group and the Lamplighters Male Choir.

She said the thing she loved most was being able to "put smiles on peoples faces" when the groups perform at aged care homes or daycare centres.

The most heartwarming moment was when a woman with giant, swollen legs was persuaded to watch a concert, and stood and thanked them at the end for helping her forget her pain.

"To think for that hour to help her forget all her troubles and her pain and she enjoyed it so much," Mrs Bryars said.

"That was a time when I was thinking I might not do it anymore, but I thought 'I've got to keep doing this because of the joy we bring to people'."
