Here is a gentle reminder about buying a ticket in our Rotary-Kiama Auto Expo raffle, benefiting Parkinson's Support Group Kiama and Rotary Projects. Just phone 0432 370 969 and buy a ticket over the phone or visit the Rotary stands at the Kiama Seaside Markets on September 15 or Gerringong Village Markets on September 21. I'm sure your community spirit will help you find a way to afford a ticket because tailored exercise for people living with Parkinson's is crucial to slowing the disease.
Yes, tickets are $100, but who knows you might win; someone is going to win; why not you? And, after all, there are only 450 tickets to be sold. The Rotary Clubs of Gerringong and Kiama are conducting this raffle where first prize is a brand new MG ZS, 1.5L Automatic SUV, valued at $26,000, (on display at the markets - choose your colour). Our second prize, donated by Kiama Travel & Cruising, is seven nights' accommodation (April 17-24, 2020) in a two-bedroom apartment (sleeps six) at Korora Bay Village, Coffs Harbour, valued at $2275. Our third prize is a fuel voucher for $500 for use at any Enhance Fuel outlet; donated by Park Fuels, Albion Park Rail.
KIAMA LIONS CLUB
Last week we said farewell to a stalwart member of our Club, Bill Gilbert, who's wisdom and common sense was widely appreciated by the Club. He will be sorely missed. We are aiming to obtain 10,000 signatures to a petition to put before the Government in order to amend the rules that prevent the NDIS scheme being applied to folks over 65 that suffer life changing injuries. A lot of work has been put in by a husband and wife team in the club and we are now at over 8,500, so we will be putting in a final spurt to get us over the line. If you havent signed and are approached by a Lions member please consider signing.
Every year we seem to have a very quiet August and then September comes in with a real bang. We start with the Hot Rod Show BBQ on Sunday Sept 8th. It is always a great show and proves very popular. At our last meeting we inducted 2 new members and the topic of the Guest Speaker was "The impact of Internet Technology on our Youth. Our next meeting will be on 12th September.
