Sue was nominated by her fellow volunteers at the club for years of effort - and made the top four finalists in the NSW Golf Industry Awards 'Golf NSW Volunteer of the Year Award'.
"It was a big surprise - I didn't know I had been nominated until I got an email saying I was in the top four," Mrs Paul said.
"It's very humbling to be nominated, especially because we are all volunteers out there, everyone works hard."
The NSW Golf Industry Awards night was held on Monday, October 21, at Curzon Hall, Marsfield.
"It's like an old castle with beautiful grounds," she said.
"It's very special, it was a fantastic night."
Mrs Paul has been part of the club for 15 years, and was the only female board member when she first applied. Her two proudest achievements were the installations of solar at the club, which no longer has an electricity bill, and introducing foot golf.
"While I was on the board, we made out first loss," she said.
"[Foot golf] proved very popular and is the second income we were looking for."
She said the many hours she had spent in board meetings, cleaning, and making sure golfers and foot golfers alike enjoyed themselves were well worth it.
"You're never a volunteer for accolades, you do it because you love it."
