The Australian Open UTR Wildcard Playoff began on Thursday and will continue until Sunday at Beaton Park.
The top two men and women in each event will advance to the Australian Open 2020 UTR Wildcard Playoff finals in Melbourne next month. The best performers at that event will be invited to compete at the Australian Open Wildcard Playoff.
It is alternative pathway for tennis players to compete at the Australian Open. Mott qualified in 2017, losing in straight sets to Richard Gasquet in the first round.
Tennis Australia chief executive Craig Tilley said the wildcard playoffs would "open up opportunities for the everyday player".
"The AO 2020 UTR Wildcard Playoff will encourage players of all levels to get excited about the sport as well as offer a creative and fun way for them to get involved," he said.
