But Ms Maffullo can't understand why she has to wait when beauty salons can open from Monday.
"Especially when cosmetic tattooing has been given the okay from June 1," she said.
Ms Maffullo said cosmetic tattooing was often face-to-face. Her studios don't do face tattoos and she can't understand why that is considered safer than a tattoo on the body
Tattoo businesses are in the same situation as gyms.
And Ms Maffullo can't understand why you can book in to have a wax but not a tattoo or a gym session.
Her comments coincide with the Australian tattoo industry developing a Covid-19 safety plan designed to give confidence to governments and get the profession back working
Ms Maffullo said many people she runs into in the community can't understand why they will be able to go to pubs and clubs on Monday but not get tattoo work done.
"I can't even go to the shops without someone pulling me up to ask when I am going to reopen," she said.
"I tell them their guess is as good as mine".
Ms Maffullo said Crown Ink Tattoo has always taken precautionary measures with single use equipment and needles.
She said both studios also have a methodical cleaning regime.
Crown Ink Tattoo's Wollongong studio is also large enough to have three clients spaced well apart.
"Our waiting room is pretty big as well," Ms Maffullo said.
While she doesn't know when it will be Ms Maffullo is already planning for the day she can reopen both studios.
As soon as she is allowed to she will but it will be bookings only to make social distancing easier to manage.
Customers will also be asked not to bring anyone with them.
"Everyone will be screened and will need to fill out the appropriate forms," she said.
"We will ring all our clients who were on the books prior to this to give them first priority".
Ms Maffullo said with major ink work people sometimes had more than one appointment to get it all done.
And there were some people in the Illawarra community who had been waiting a couple of months to have a tattoo finished.
"Just not knowing is more frustrating than anything. I know they have put us in stage three with gyms but what is the difference with pubs and clubs and beauty salons," she said.
