The committee, imposed by the club board following an 0-4 start to the season, has been widely discussed this week with outgoing coach Paul McGregor saying it "brought to a head" discussion over his future.

The set-up gave assistant coaches Dean Young and Shane Flanagan equal say at the selection table, something McGregor felt made his role untenable.

"When it gets to stage where you can't pick a player in the position you feel he's right to play it's probably not the right thing to [continue] to coach," McGregor said last week.

The content of the discussions remains private, but Norman was recalled after just one week in exile for Friday's victory over his former club Parramatta.

The 29-year-old admitted his form has been sub-par, but he disagreed with being left out of the side for the round-thirteen loss to the Roosters in Wollongong, one that seemingly put paid to the Dragons finals hopes.

"I just said it is what it is, I wasn't going to mope around and kick stones," Norman said.

"Did I agree with it, probably not, but I just got on with training and did my part and what I had to do.

"I probably didn't think too far ahead, they just said 'you won't be playing this week' I said 'sweet, I'll get on with it'. I was glad to be back this week and I knew I had to have a good game.

"[My form] hasn't been good at all, I'm not going to shy away from that fact, it hasn't been good at all. As a team we haven't been going too well but we got a good win [on Friday]. I just want to keep building on this year, we've got six rounds left, and finish strong."

His axing came amid reports that former skipper Gareth Widdop - currently with Warrington - was seeking a return to Australia, possibly via a swap with Norman.

It was a culmination of persistent talks the club was trying off-load Norman, just a year after making his Origin debut, with he and halfback-cum-hooker Ben Hunt taking up a huge chunk of the Dragons cap.

Norman said there was zero chance of him shifting to the UK, while he has every intention of seeing out the remainder of his deal with the Dragons that expires at the end of next season.

"There's no chance I'm going to England," Norman said.

"I spoke to my manager and cleared it up and I'm no chance of going over there. I'm still contracted here for another year and I'm keen to stay here.

"When you're in a side that's not getting it done and you're a main ball-player it falls on you. That's rugby league and that's what happens.

"I guess [the talk] comes from that, not getting a result. It is what it is. I expect to be here next year so obviously I want to finish the year strong so all that talk goes away."

With Young stepping up into interim coaching role it's unclear what the selection process will be, but Norman says he'll be looking to cement his position in the No. 6 jumper.

"I definitely want to be playing in the halves, we'll have a meeting on Monday and we'll see what happens from there," Norman said.
