The massive $62 million development is impossible to miss near the German Club with its own access off a new roundabout on Northcliffe Drive.
It is so large, 90 extra jobs have been added to the existing workforce of 130 people from the Warrawong Bunnings Warehouse the new store replaces.
Bunnings Warehouse Kembla Grange complex manager Liz Politis said at 17,000 square metres the new store is 5000sqm larger which means 200 staff will be on hand when it opens its doors this weekend or early next week.
"Being so larger we have a much bigger range," she said.
"And the seven-lane timber drive-through is more than double the size of the Warrawong store."
Ms Politis said under-cover parking for 400 cars made the new complex easier to access in all weather.
She said the 200-strong team had spent the last four weeks working hard getting the new Bunnings Warehouse Kembla Grange ready in time for Father's Day.
She said being a third larger, the new Bunnings had an even wider range of home improvement and lifestyle products.
"We're so excited to be investing in a new store by creating additional team members jobs and bringing a bigger and better offer to customers," she said.
To celebrate the opening in four or five days, the team had provided support to local community groups with product donations.
"So far we've provided assistance to the Coomaditchie United Aboriginal Corporation by donating equipment such as sleepers, gardening tools, native plants and fruit trees to help establish their community garden," Ms Politis said.
"We also provided Berkeley Public School with various plants, gardening equipment and a bird bath to create an education and edible garden for students, as well as donating a 10,000 litre water tank to The Little School Preschool Inc.
"We're always looking for opportunities to contribute to local causes and we look forward to providing further assistance to more community groups in the future, in particular, getting out in the local community for hands-on projects once we're able to."
Ms Politis said there were many new concepts in the new Kembla Grange store which will open three months before a new similar-sized Bunnings Warehouse Nowra.
There are different wardrobe displays, bathroom displays and a dream kitchen design centre with more than 10 brand new kitchen concepts.
There is also an extended artificial plant range, and garage storage displays.
The store also has a larger outdoor nursery and a café.
The seven-lane timber drive-through with space for nearly 30 cars is already a popular talking point in the Wollongong community.
Ms Politis said there wre a number of new and existing team members who were skilled experts in timber, tools, paint, kitchens, plumbing, garden and outdoor living.
And they would all be on hand when the store opened to provide expert advice for D.I.Y. projects.
The new Bunnings Warehouse Kembla Grange is located at 640 Northcliffe Drive, Kembla Grange.
As to what will happen to the Warrawong site, Ms Politis said it was a leased premises and the property owner would decide its future.
