Member for Keira Ryan Park and Wollongong MP Paul Scully accepted a donation of thousands of books for Mr Park's Christmas Toy Drive, and Mr Scully's Kids Book Drive respectively.
Mr Park and Mr Scully visited Flagstaff Group at Unanderra on Friday, alongside Chris Beaven, who joined forces with Flagstaff to donate the books.
Beaven, founder and former director of children's charity KidzWish, has written and self-published a children's book, The Little Twig.
She donated about three thousand copies, which will be distributed between the two MP's appeals.
"It's about a little twig, and he wants to be a Christmas tree," she said. "The series will tell the story of what has happened this year with the terrible bushfires... It's about children learning about history.
"The books donated today were ones I published, and intended to use, but was too busy doing other things.
"These 3000 books were in my garage, so I decided to donate them."
Beaven will launch the next two books in the series later this month, with help from former Wiggle Greg Page, who was involved in creating the e-book version.
Mr Scully said it was a "very generous personal donation which Ryan and I greatly appreciate".
"We know the kids who will be reading those books will greatly appreciate them too," he said.
