A man has been charged after he allegedly threatened a woman and fired a gun in suburban Helensburgh.

Wollongong police were called about 2.50pm Tuesday to a home on Tunnell Road, following reports of a domestic-related incident.
Police have been told a 59-year-old man threatened a 56-year-old woman with a firearm, which he then discharged.

Officers set up a crime scene and seized two firearms and ammunition.
No one was injured during the incident.
The man was arrested and taken to Wollongong Police Station, where he was charged with discharging a firearm with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
He appeared briefly at Wollongong Local Court Wednesday morning but did not apply for bail.
The matter returns to court tomorrow.
