The family run zoo at Helensburgh is a finalist in four categories of the Shorty Awards.
Symbio marketing and creative services manager Kevin Fallon said the wildlife park was competing in the Best Overall Facebook Presence, Best Use of Facebook, Best Use of Video and Best Global Campaign categories against some of the biggest names on social media.
Mr Fallon said other finalists included WWE and Disney, huge advertising agencies and companies with large budgets and marketing teams. He said there was a people's choice component of the awards and the Illawarra community had the opportunity to vote for Symbio.
Some of the digital results achieved during 2020 included an increase in video views and engagement levels by 800 per cent and 19 videos achieving more than a million views. There were 33 million direct engagements, 431 million impressions, 150 million video views, 153,000 page likes and 209,000 new followers.
Mr Fallon is responsible for Symbio's social media presence but said the results and recognition was great for the whole team.
"Our stats are some of the highest in the world," he said.
"If we can take out one of the major awards it will be pretty massive."
The winners will be announced in late April.
