According to CoreLogic's preliminary figures, of the 13 results collected for the Illawarra so far, there was an auction clearance rate of 53.9 per cent for the week ending August 22.
For the week ending August 15, of the 22 results collected, there was an auction clearance rate of 68.2 per cent.
This is compared to an auction clearance rate of 81.8 per cent in the Illawarra for the week ending August 8.
The Agency Illawarra hosted an online auction night last week, and achieved some varied results.
A four-bedroom, two-bathroom home at 131 The Avenue, Mount Saint Thomas sold for $1 million at auction.
The home had a price guide of $900,000.
The selling agents were Jordan Andonovski and Vicki Cali.
Ms Cali said there were five registered bidders, with three of those from out of the area.
However, the successful party was a local buyer.
Ms Cali said it was a strongly contested auction until about the $960,000 to $970,000 mark, when the eventual buyer took charge.
A home at 5 Bushland Avenue, Mount Pleasant sold prior to auction for $1,050,000.
Two properties - 12 Garden Avenue, Figtree, and 14 Iris Avenue, Coniston - were passed in on the night.
"One of them passed in because several buyers weren't in a position to participate (due to financing)," Ms Cali said.
"What we're finding is a lot of the banks are taking a bit longer to approve loans, and we had some people for Garden Avenue who just couldn't participate on the evening.
"And they both were very quick campaigns, only maximum three-week campaigns. So it may not have given people enough time."
However, an offer for Iris Avenue was accepted the following day.
Meanwhile, a two-bedroom, one-bathroom home at 10 Buckland Street, Fernhill sold for sold for $1.1 million on Saturday.
According to CoreLogic, the median sales price of houses in the area is $836,000.
The property was being sold on behalf of the NSW Land and Housing Corporation.
The property offers a large lounge room with fireplace, approximately 626 square metres of near level land and the potential for a second dwelling or granny flat (subject to council approval).
Selling agent, Ali Yagmur from Domain Real Estate Illawarra said bidding kicked off at $850,000, and it was purchased by a local buyer.
He said there were 27 registered bidders, with the auction ultimately becoming a "two-horse race" and selling for a "couple of hundred (thousand) above the reserve".
Mr Yagmur believed it had been purchased for a knockdown-rebuild.
