Organisers said multiple issues including the dramatic increase of positive COVID case numbers were behind the decision to move the multi-day festival to April or May.
"The decision was informed by the dramatic increase in COVID case numbers, withdrawal of several bands, and some musicians/committee members already being 'close contacts'," they posted on social media.
"Huge thanks to all the musicians, bands, volunteers, workshop presenters who offered their time to make this happen. And a massive thanks to the 2022 organising committee for their incredible work in putting together a festival with such a short lead time."
It's been two years since Honk Oz! was able to fill Wollongong's CBD streets with a variety of live music, street performers and workshops.
The event has been modelled on festivals similar in the US and South America and named after the "Honk! Festival of Activist Street Bands" movement.
It was brought to life in 2014 to celebrate public spaces while blurring the lines between audience members and participants.
