Walking into the Aurora Spiegeltent on Wednesday night was a little like walking into the unknown, except that I knew the term Purple Rabbit often referred to an adult toy.

Producers Strut n Fret were behind the show so I knew it was going to be good, they were there masterminds behind the brilliant Blanc de Blanc and also Deluxe Deluxe which have travelled wide and far.
Purple Rabbit had only been performed in Adelaide so far before stopping by Wollongong, with anticipation it would go on to tour Australia and the world.
Earlier in the day Scott Maidment, the founder of the company, had said they'd "wanted to make a magic show that wasn't a magic show", and so they did.
Five sexy performers brought slight-of-hand tricks, mind reading abilities, extreme foot juggling and beat-boxing that was literally on fire to Wollongong's Arts Precinct.
Yes, the sex toy with the namesake did make a brief appearance, but it wasn't as "adult" as some previous shows I'd seen from Strut n Fret.
The opening act was an extraordinary feat of pulling schooners out of nowhere, I'm baffled how he did it, especially when a nod to Australia's shoey came into play.
Emma Phillips the Chinese-trained foot juggler spent years learning the ancient art from the masters, and is now the only Western performer to be able to juggle delicate umbrellas and a table in one act.
Be warned, the show does require audience participation - a big shout out to the good sport Bernie who without question provided a rendition of his "O-face" on stage (although I cannot erase that image from my brain *shudder*)!
I don't want to give too much away as there is a lot of mind reading and magic that is woven throughout the show, so best keep it a surprise, but it was a cool night out with plenty of laughs.
Purple Rabbit is at the Wollongong Spiegeltent until Sunday. It's recommended for ages 18+ and contains strong adult themes and language, nudity, fire, smoke effects and strobe lighting.
It ran for approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes, with no interval.
The cast includes the 'alcoholic Harry Potter' of magic Dom Chambers, official fooler of Penn & Teller The Unnamed Magician, eccentric Gold Medal beatbox-juggler Kerol, Chinese trained slight-of-foot juggler Emma Phillips and Harper Jones, the world's only Sexual Psychic-ologist.
