The Aboriginal Interpretive Play Space (AIPS) at the rear of the Shellharbour Civic Centre will interpret Dharawal Country storytelling in the form of an "all inclusive" play space.
"The intent of the AIPS is to become a destination for those visiting the Civic Centre and the greater Shellharbour LGA," tender documents state.
The park, designed by landscape architect Fiona Robbe, is in part funded by the NSW Government through the Everyone Can Play initiative, receiving $60,000 in 2020/21.
"When completed the play space will be a learning and play experience that seeks to promote local Aboriginal knowledge and history through a network of paths, interpretative signs, interactive play and bush tucker gardens," the documents state.
The future park would be a standalone destination space and an entire play environment.
Included in the park are play equipment such as a tree house lookout, canoe and rain wheel, as well as nature play equipment such as logs, stumps and loose branches.
The park will also have to comply with NSW government Everyone Can Play guidelines for inclusive and accessible play spaces.
The call for tenders closes on May 24.
