Emergency services rushed to the transport hub after being told the man accidentally fell from the platform just before 2.30pm.
The man was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, but he was not able to be revived.
He has not been formally identified, but the man is believed to be in his 30s.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
