Pair to stand trial over Janceski shooting

Two men accused of shooting Darko Janceski in the leg, just months before he was gunned down in an unrelated incident, will stand trial next year.

Glen Robert Wilson, 35, and Jason Lee Wellins, 37, formally pleaded not guilty to the shooting in Wollongong District Court yesterday and were committed for a lengthy trial, expected to start on June 17.

The Berkeley pair entered not guilty pleas to one count each of shooting with intent to murder and discharging a firearm with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm.

Wilson also pleaded not guilty to an additional charge of possessing a loaded firearm in a public place.

Mr Janceski was shot in the upper thigh outside his Barnes St address on January 29 this year, less than three months before he was fatally shot outside his parents' Berkeley home.

The co-accused were charged with Mr Janceski's attempted murder shortly after the January shooting and held in custody.

The pair were granted bail in May after reports of Mr Janceski's death came before the court.
