Church member and former Greenville local Lindgren Farley has returned to Liberia to help make arrangements for the trio of Paul Southern, Jeffrey Davies and pastor Eddie Zeballos. Funds have already been raised to build two wells, with more funding needed to complete a third.
"We are desperate to raise more funds which will allow us to build a third well, while we also have plans to hold a medical clinic and also need money for car hire and petrol to get them from Monrovia to Greenville," church founder Meridith Southern said.
"Eddie, Paul and Jeffrey have paid for the trip at their own expense and will leave Australia on March 2."
The committee will meet 60 widows and disadvantaged women in the community to discuss options for their future, as well as scout the land and pick a site for a children's centre.
"They will also conduct a one-day medical clinic to treat malaria and hold evangelical meetings and training for pastors, as well as organising a soccer tournament for the children of Greenville while they visit," Mrs Southern said.
"We need around $500 for the soccer gala day which will bring the youth of the area together for us to meet, while there are also costs for church work like ministry and evangelism and feeding of the multitudes at these events."
Mrs Southern said the Cringila-based church was looking for partners.
"You might like to be a monetary partner, or you might be in a position to assist on the events team which I need to put together," she said.
"You may be a tradesman who would consider visiting Greenville in due course or maybe hold your own small fund-raising event at your church or workplace."
The church is also keen to send things like handballs, dolls or trinkets like necklaces or bracelets on its next visit and anyone who can help can drop them at The Country Kitchen in Shellharbour Village.
