The Wollongong Writers Festival will be bigger and better this year, with the community encouraged to get involved in workshops across the city.
The festival, to be held in October, will allow readers, publishers, artists and budding writers to gain experience, skills and meet other creatives.
The event will include sessions and workshops focusing on writing books for children, short stories and script writing.
A "black out poetry" session, where workshoppers can take a book or newspaper and black out every word except those they want to keep to make a poem, will also be held.
The final works will be distributed to art lovers via the Papergirl Wollongong crew.
The festival will also run panel sessions and trivia, and Enough Said will be hosting an inter-university poetry slam.
Co-ordinator Chloe Higgins said the festival aimed to unite literary enthusiasts.
"Wollongong is moving towards a more vibrant and cultural community so this is an opportunity to connect like-minded people," she said.
"I love people, books, literary work and Wollongong, so I couldn't think of anything better to organise and be part of than a writers festival."
The South Coast Writers Centre and Culture Bank Wollongong have been great supporters of the event. The festival will run on October 10-11 at Art Arena and North Wollongong Hotel.
