The popular northern suburbs venue, inside the Coalcliff Surf Life Saving Club, hosts live music each Sunday afternoon in the warmer months. With a stunning ocean backdrop for the outdoor stage, The Bombie Bar launches its season on Sunday, with a Father's Day gig from the Blue Salt Band, Shelley May and Belle Robinson.
"We're only a small venue but it's a beautiful location," said manager Robert Deacon.
"It's a good Sunday afternoon show. Everyone comes to see the music, not to play pokies or drink, so the performers love it too."
The Bombie Bar has quietly built a cult reputation for raucous reggae, funk and blues gigs. Recently hosting the likes of Powderfinger guitarist Darren Middleton and Thirsty Merc frontman Rai Thistlethwayte, the bar will soon reveal its new season of stars.
"We like to feature local bands like Swing Booty or Chuparosa, and also get a lot of bands from Sutherland too," Mr Deacon said.
"We've got Midnight Oil' s Jim Moginie and the Family Dog playing soon, and some others I can't say yet."
The Bombie Bar runs on the first and third Sunday of each month from September 2014 to June 2015. See facebook.com/bombiebar for more information and a gig guide.
