Cedars Christian School at Unanderra is engaging in skills acquisition drills and small-sided games once a week throughout Term 2.

"It all happened off the back of when we had the A-League All-Stars and we had some of our coaches going to schools and Cedars was one of them," Football South Coast chief executive Ann-Marie Balliana said.

"They were really impressed with the quality of our coaching and how the kids responded to what we were doing.

"We were approached by the school to start up a Kindies program, which is certainly great for that age group."

The exposure to football is hoped to give children the opportunity to consider playing the sport outside of school programs.

It also helps reach young students who may not have access to the world's most popular sport.

"We are getting some kids who are able to trial at football who have never played before," Balliana said.

"They are able to try it and decide if that is a sport they would love to take up."

The Cedars kindergarten program is the first of its kind for Football South Coast and it is hoped similar programs will be taken up at schools across the region.

"I think it could be something the school looks extending on going forward," Balliana said.

"We would love to do any other school who would love to have football in on a regular basis."
